There’s a researcher out there whose focus is on the “deep antiquity” of humanity. He argues that humanity has been around for hundreds of thousands of years. Sites various oddball archeological evidence--a gold cup found in coal deposits that are extremely old, etc.
Im not 100% sure what to make of it but it presents (unintentionally) an alternative to the young earth creationists that is also compatible with a literalist reading of Genesis.
