[Aesop told many fables. They were short stories which were used to teach wisdom. Jesus spoke in a parables and they have a similar feel to the Fables. So I decided to mash them together and produced a series of stories where Jesus tells Aesop’s Fables as though they were His parables.]
Jesus sat down and taught the crowd.
Once, the Sun challenged the Wind to a contest. The winner was the first one to cause a young man to remove his coat.
The Wind agreed.
As the young man walked down the crooked country lane, the Wind blew. The man pulled his hat tight down upon his head.
The Wind brought rain to bear upon the young man from the treacherous mountains. But he just pulled his coat tight around him.
The Wind brought a gale from the dark valley, but the young man held on to his coat more tightly, turning his back.
The Wind eventually gave up. The clouds gradually disappeared and the Sun smiled and warmed the young man. He was glad of the relief. And as he warmed up and dried out, he removed his coat.
Jesus leaned forward. “The Wind was the trials of life. “ He explained, “At times they come. Causing people to grit their teeth and push through the suffering.”
“The Sun, in contrast, represents the good times. The days where life is easy. Everything falls into place. All things effortlessly rhyme.”
Jesus sat up like a King. “To the ones who believe, “ He said, “I am the Sun who shines on the righteous. I am also the overcoat which protects from the most horrendous trials.”
He continued, “But to those who hate me, I am the Wind who brings judgement. But I am also the Sun, who is happy to show mercy to them. Longing for the wicked to repent.”
A great fable, definitely gonna do a review of this story and the other one tomorrow. Sorry for taking so long to do so Brother Alexander.
More of these please.
