At the beginning of the book of Genesis, we see the Spirit of God hovering over the waters of the Earth.
Genesis 1 v 2
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
But how did the Spirit of God get there and how did He create the celestial spheres? We see God create the Sun, Moon and stars, but not the Heavens in which they were placed.
In Genesis 5, we get a clue.
Genesis 5 v 31
Altogether, Lamech lived a total of 777 years…
Lamech died at an age which is symbolically linked to the perfect number of God, 777.
Seven Hundred and Seventy-Seven Years Old
Numbers in ancient cultures were very important and held more meaning than they do today. By saying Lamech was 777 years old when he died, the writer is linking him to God. 3 is the perfect number, 6 is the number of man and 7 is the number of God. When we see 777, it means this is strongly linked to Him.
We could see that Lamech is a symbolic representation of the Spirit of God. So in this model He is placed just above the Earth in the Air celestial sphere. Interestingly, another word for the Spirit of God is the Air or Wind of God.
So within the model above, the writer of Genesis 1 is placing the Holy Spirit just above the Earth. He is saying the Heavens were already created between the first two verses of Genesis.
We also see in the Book of Psalms,
Psalm 33 v 6
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
The angels were created by the Spirit of God.
I believe the Holy Spirit descended through the different spheres, creating the angelic host as He moved towards the Earth. He created these sons and daughters of God. The ones who would be tempted by the daughters of men in Genesis 6.
Every time a patriarch is born, many other sons and daughters are beget too. So, every time God created a celestial sphere, He created many other spiritual beings.
So symbolically speaking, the patriarchs are the names of celestial spheres and their creation brings about the birth of the angels.
No Mention of Heaven
One issue with this theory is that there is no mention of Heaven in the Genesis 5 text. I agree, but as I have shown before, these texts are very dense with several interpretations.
If the evidence supports my hypothesis, we need to consider whether we should look at Genesis 5 as a creation story of the Heavens.
Next we will look at the numbers and see what we can uncover.
Because of the interdependent nature of your Gen5 argument, I'm now reviewing it as a whole instead of instead of each post independently. Future comments may reflect this and may also pull from the Gen11 and Astronomy series. I did not want you to think I had given up - it is merely taking time to absorb as a whole. The Lord has put this on my heart to see it through. Thus far I have yet to find any real weaknesses in your argument. Although, one must be diligent, thoughtful, and persistent to fully comprehend it.
