Christmas persuades even the worst Scrooge to show sacrificial love at this time of year.
Sacrificial love is the pervading Flavour of the Feast. It is the heart of the Kingdom of God coming to Earth. It is deeply woven into Christ’s Incarnation.
I believe sacrificial love is the highest value. Where a community seeks to live sacrificially, it benefits everyone. The people give freely, without expecting anything in return. Interactions within this paradigm build a society of high trust, mutual support and most importantly, love.
A culture with sacrificial love at its heart is a culture which will create beautiful art, awe-inspiring architecture and make a long-lasting impact on the World.
This sacrificial love has inspired stunning churches which point the soul to Heaven. The art it inspires, is the most breathtaking in human history. And Christ is the foundation of the West.
At Christmas, we see God come into Creation. He incarnates as a baby. Grows up, gives Himself sacrificially and now offers all humanity the Gift of Life.
Our response could be to reject His act of sacrificial love, but we can also accept it. By which we show Him sacrificial love in return. We offer our hearts. We offer our lives. And we give Him our all.
